The Gotham Knights believe that what we do off the pitch is just as important as what we do on it. As part of our dedication to community involvement, we are pleased to support the following charities:
- Mark Kendall Bingham Leadership Fund
Mark Bingham, our club's co-founder, was one of the heroes of United Flight 93 which crashed in Pennsylvania on September 11th. This fund, set up in Mark's memory, provides University of California, Berkeley tuition and expenses to young men and women who reflect Mark's qualities of Leadership, Scholarship, and Sociability.
- Metro New York Rugger 9/11 Relief Fund
Our team was not the only one affected by the attacks on September 11th. In all, ten members of local rugby clubs lost their lives at the World Trade Center. This fund provides assistance to the families of Tom Foley (Old Blue RFC), Tommy Knox (North Jersey RFC), Mark Ludvigsen (New York Athletic Club [NYAC] RFC), Sean Lugano (NYAC RFC), Mike McCarthy (Lansdowne RFC), Terry McShane (Long Island RFC), Tim Reilly (White Plains RFC), Nick Rowe (Manhattan RFC), Mike Steward (Old Blue RFC), and Brent Woodall, (NYAC RFC).
- God's Love We Deliver
GLWD's mission is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS and other serous illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. They do this by preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to those who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.
- Ali Forney Center
The mission of the Ali Forney Center is to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) youth from the harm of homelessness, and to support them in becoming safe and independent as they move from adolescence to adulthood.
